Why did Yamcha, Krillin & Tenshinhan become irrelevant/useless?

Krilin didn't become irrelevant. He's the only relevant male human.

Its because they are not special. All the relevant characters are alien. It's a fact. Though these characters are on my top ten list, their power-levels are not what put them there, but their character development/personality. At the end of the series, you have to be a full-blooded Saiyan who can transform to be a top tier character. (Goku/Vegeta). I think this is because the newer audience of DBZ can't appreciate character/development, but can only like the most "cool"/powerful characters.

I really like Yamcha and Tien's characters, and Tien looks awesome in Buu saga when he shows up to save Gohan. I wish they both had more to do with the later series.

Maybe it's just Toriyama who's like that.
